Grace - God's New Society - Part 6 - God's People

Looking at Ephesians 2:11-22 this week, we will see a call for unity in Christ. We often say how diverse our church is — so many backgrounds, yet we have one Saviour. We must remember that our differences are by design. He is building a global kingdom that reflects His saving power and wonderful creativity. Mark Dever remarks, "The Church is the Gospel made visible.” While we may not be the same, we have been made one in Jesus. As our church continues to grow, my prayer is that our unity around Jesus would become influentially clear in our city.

Grace - God's New Society - Part 5 - Alive to Live

Before and After. Then and now. The Bible is clear that when God works in our lives — we are most certainly different. This week, we look at Ephesians 2:1-10, remembering that the way we lived before knowing Christ and the way we live now that we are in Christ, is distinctly new. Join us this week as we continue to ask God to “open the eyes of our hearts” that we would see more of Jesus.

Grace - God's New Society - Part 4 - Knowing Jesus

What does it mean to know Jesus? Not just know about him, but really know Him? This most important relationship is intended to shape and redeem every area of our lives. My prayer for you this week, is that God would renew your desire to know Jesus and strengthen your faith and confidence in Him.

As we continue in our sermon series, this week we will look at Ephesians 1:15-23:

“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”

Grace - God's New Society - Part 3 - Guaranteed for Glory

Do you ever have doubts? Do you wonder if your relationship with God is true? Our Father understands us, and knows that we all need reassurance. Even more than reassurance, He has given us an eternal promise. He has changed us from the inside out and has given us His presence. As we consider what it means to be chosen by God for His purposes, I pray the truths we discover will shape our hearts and lives.

Grace - God's New Society - Part 2 - None but Jesus!

As your new pastor, I could not be more excited to join this community. With each passing week, I continue to learn more about the different cultures represented in our congregation. My prayer for our church is that we would know God’s grace and be known as a gracious community that loves Jesus.

This week, I met with some of the other international pastors in the city, and I was significantly encouraged by our time together. Much like our church, there were many different backgrounds and nationalities represented. As we worshiped and prayed with one another, it became abundantly clear there is only one name to proclaim: Jesus.

Jesus is the one who brings us all together, and He is the one who holds us all together.

"Wonderful grace of Jesus, Greater than all my sin; How shall my tongue describe it, Where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden, Setting my spirit free; For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Wonderful grace, all sufficient for me, for even me. Broader than the scope of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame, O magnify the precious Name of Jesus. Praise His Name!

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching to all the lost, By it I have been pardoned,
Saved to the uttermost, Chains have been torn asunder, Giving me liberty;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching the most defiled, By its transforming power,
Making him God’s dear child, Purchasing peace and heaven, For all eternity;
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.” H. Lillenas 1918

Grace - God's New Society - Part 1 - The Miracle of Grace

In the months ahead we will be looking at how God can shape our hearts and lives towards what matters most. We are a church blessed with diversity and multiple cultures, but in Christ we are one family of faith, growing in grace and love for one another. Our church is blessed with diversity and multiple cultures. We come from many backgrounds, speak multiple languages, work in various areas of Hong Kong, but we find ourselves here… at this church, in this community and our love for Jesus is what holds us together.

The letter written to the church at Ephesus is a powerful and authoritative reminder of what God has done for us, and how we are His people.

Stories with Luke - Part 7 - The Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God is the rallying cry of Luke. It is the present reality through the coming of Jesus. It is the future hope for all who believe in Him. It has come already in secrecy and humility like a carpenter riding a donkey. It will come suddenly and with great power like the King of Kings riding a white horse.

What should we do when faced with the awesome prospect of the Kingdom of God? Step 1: We pray, Step 2: We pray, Step 3…you get the idea.

Jesus tells a story of a woman who repeatedly asks for justice from a corrupt judge. This Sunday we will remember this story and how it should shape our lives today.
