My Crazy Family - Part 4 - Fathers Day

Happy Father’s Day from The Bridge ChurchJesus’ earthly father, Joseph, was compassionate, open to God, and decisive. Only the Spirit of God could cause Joseph to be such a father. Romans 8.14 explains that if the Holy Spirit leads us we are a children of God. This enables us to use the intimate word “Abba”, used only of our own father never to refer to someone else’s, thus revealing the precious relationship that we as children can have with our heavenly Father.

My Crazy Family - Part 3

Parenting is both a privilege and responsibility. This awesome reality can quickly feel overwhelming in that God entrusts these helpless little image-bearers to us. Whether parenting biological children, adopted children or foster children, the greatest of our responsibilities is to keep the memory of God’s mighty works alive in our children.

My Crazy Family - Part 2 - When Conflict Gets Crazy

Ever since Cain killed Abel, ever since Jacob betrayed his brother Esau, ever since Joseph and his brothers lived out their tale of jealousy and forgiveness, stories of family conflict have never stopped. If there were no family conflicts, there would be far less great literature – No Great Expectations, or Fathers and Sons, or Anna Karenina or Atonement. The conflicts within a family, whether they are healthy conflicts, or especially, if they are unhealthy ones, are painful. This Sunday we will look at what the writer of the book of James has to tell us about dealing with family conflict.

Revelation: The Seven - Part 7 - Laodicea

The church at Laodicea weren’t passionate for God. They weren’t completely cold or worldly. They were somewhere in the middle, trying to ride the fence and please everyone. There was no real conviction. Preferring comfort to following Jesus, they were lukewarm, and Jesus said that makes Him sick. This Sunday, we will conclude the Revelation: The Seven series by looking at this lukewarm church.

Revelation: The Seven - Part 6 - Philadelphia

The church in Philadelphia was small. It clung to existence in the midst of a city that did not want it and a government that oppressed it. Rocked by earthquakes and pushed to the margins of society, its destiny was nonetheless completely secure. Jesus holds the key of the Kingdom of God and holds the door open. Nobody can shut it. We welcome our very own Nathan Clifton who will be exploring our role in the glorious Kingdom of God through Christ’s words to the church in Philadelphia.
