The Kingdom & The King - Part 1 - Matchless in Mercy

While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

This week we begin looking at the Kingdom of Jesus — the rule and reign of Jesus. Like other kingdoms, the King leads the way, shapes the culture, and governs the people. But there is no kingdom, like the Kingdom of Jesus. There is no king, like our King Jesus. As Christ followers, our lives will increasingly reflect the unmistakable attributes of Jesus as we know Him more.

Waiting for Jesus - Part 2 - We Wait With His Peace

This week in Advent, we reflect on God's promise of peace in our lives.

Waiting for Jesus, means that we believe God is at work, in the midst of our waiting. No detail unknown, no circumstance a surprise. God is actively at work in our lives and in the world. So, we wait with His peace.

Jesus says, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Grace - God's New Society - Part 12 - Hope for Holiness

Troubling elections! Political unrest! Wars! Economic uncertainty! It is easy to feel discouraged and cynical. Yet the church is called to hope!

Our hope is that there will come a day when wrongs will be righted, where suffering will end, where people will be united and peace will reign. Our hope means that how we live now matters. Our lives and the way we choose to live them have eternal significance. Not only this, but the church has a great part to play in God’s eternal plan. So, how do we live?

This Sunday we will be lighting our first Advent Candle of hope and wrapping up our study on Ephesians.

Grace - God's New Society - Part 9 - Unity of the Church

You have faith in Jesus - so what? Ephesians 1-3 describes the amazing work God has accomplished in bringing all things in heaven and earth under the authority of Jesus Christ. Beginning in chapter 4, Paul asks, "So what?" What is the evidence that we're under the authority of Jesus? What difference does it make in our lives? That is the challenge we'll be wrestling with this Sunday.

Grace - God's New Society - Part 8 - Immeasurably More

God has the ability to do far more than we ever ask or imagine, but often we don’t ask and can’t imagine. Join us this week as we remember the reality that Christ can dwell in our hearts through faith. When our lives are found in Him, we can envision a much different (and much better!) future. As our hearts respond to His great love, we as the Church, become an unstoppable force for good in the world.
