Jesus the Messiah - An Overcoming Messiah

(Matthew 26:47-56)

This is the fifth sermon in the series, 'Jesus the Messiah.' We have strong ideas about power, what it looks like and how to get it. People living in the time of Jesus also had ideas of what power looked like. Jesus does not match up to either of these ideas of power. In this passage, we see an example of Jesus’ power and how it subverts our idea of power.

During the season of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Easter, we will see how Jesus fulfills God's promises to send a rescuer. This week, we see Jesus' overcoming, true power that leads to freedom.
